We hope you have enjoyed the Goliath Must Fall study as much as we have! Were you surprised by the two big twists in the story of David and Goliath? The first: We are not David; Jesus is David. And second: Our giant is already dead. The victory is already won. Jesus accomplished what he set out to do. As the study comes to a close, Louie wants us to look at one final twist: David’s motivation in this whole thing was the fame of God. David was motivated by God’s honor and glory. That’s our invitation as well.
Jesus wants to take down our giants so we can walk free and have the life that he wants us to live. And he wants to do that so his name can be exalted above every other name in our world. That’s the reason that surpasses all other reasons. It’s so people around us look at our lives and say, “Your God is truly God.”
Jesus invites us to set our attention on him and to rest in his grace. Follow him in this moment with your next step. And keep doing that step after step today. If you do, his glory will ultimately result.
Goliath must fall. Your goliath must fall.
Your giant must fall because Jesus is already victorious.
Now is the time to walk in the freedom that he has won.
My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. – 2 Corinthians 9-10
There are still two more chapters to read in the Goliath Must Fall book. These final chapters pack a powerful punch and will help drive the overall study message home for you! Read Chapters 8 & 9 (pp. 193 – 242) in the Goliath Must Fall book.
